Tuesday, December 7, 2010 I just posted the following as a comment after watching the POTUS explain why the Bush Tax Cuts are being extended another two years. Here's the video:
Dear Mr. Obama,
That looks like a great lamp back there! Nice.
Do the Republican members of the House and Senate belong to that 2% of Americans who felt threatened by a tax increase? Surely their constituents are not -- not a majority of them at any rate.
Why do the wealthy keep winning at the expense of the nation? In a true Democracy, policy cannot be dictated by a mere 2% of the people.
Surely people do not still place any faith in "Trickle Down Economics?" That theory relies on certain presuppositions about human nature that have proven false over several millenniums -- assumptions that claim, "humans are by nature giving, loving, and sharing people who have act in their best interests." That may have been true "in the garden," but we've all been out in the anonymous streets too long for that to apply anymore.
I hope you do continue to help Americans realize that to ensure "Justice for All," every American must pay the same percentages. In this country we don't use words like "Lower Class" and "Upper Class" in any real political way, but employing the repeated use of "Middle Class" implies an upper and a lower just the same.

America is a caste system, and we at the bottom will not tolerate the platitude of "trickle down" when we know that money always "trickles up."
Rich people: You will feel better if you just let it go. No more sleepless nights worrying about who is stealing what from you, because when we know you are paying your fair share, it makes us less inclined to rob you.
See? As a millionaire, the fair percentage of taxes you (SHOULD) pay are providing neighborhoods with parks, pregnant women with pre-natal care, and textbooks for students. Hungry people will not glare at you in your nice car as you speed worriedly through less reputable sides of town, because you are paying for the food at the shelter. You will have less money, yes, but your time will be free.
Thank you.
Mr. Obama, if you could help America understand that in the next two years, I'd be ever so grateful.
Love,
Everybody,
Phil
