Lake Eufala, OK

The Checotah/Lake Eufala West KOA Kampground (yes, with a 'K') is THE most charming little ready-made campsite I can recall visiting. The grounds themselves are pretty plain -- mostly grass, with a few trees, and apparently a lake on one side, though obscured by the few trees. BUT THE BATHROOMS, the bathrooms are so charming that I wanted to live in the women's south restrooms. FOREVER. Some sweet, adorable person has made it their mission to ensure that all women visitors are comfortable at every moment of their restroom visit. EACH BATHROOM STALL HAS AN INDIVIDUAL BOUQUET OF LIVE FLOWERS in a little vase affixed to the toilet tank. A small basket of tamps and pads hangs on each stall door, with a handwritten note saying "Please take only what you need. These are for life's little emergencies!" And, the notes are HAND-GLITTERED. The towels are CLOTH, and hand-rolled in a little basket on the counter, adorned with many bouquets of live flowers. There were three varieties of lotion -- unscented, 'aloe' scented, and cover-up-yer-crotch-stank-'fore-you-get-back-on-the-pole scented (strongly perfumed, y'know) -- and I thought, WOW, someone has really given a lot of time to considering the various scent preferences of women, and I completely agree with their assessment of the tri-level categorization!
If you ever have cause to travel cross the nation on Interstate Highway 40, make this "kute" little site one of your stops.
Don't order the hash browns.
